It was an overflow of energetic and enthusiastic youths at Bolton White Hotel over the weekend, as the 5th season of Etisalat-sponsored hit music reality show; Nigerian Idol had the 3rd leg of its auditions at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Music filled the air as the eager but slightly tense contestants strung chords on their instruments and tested their vocals in preparation to meet the judges and fight for a spot in the next stage of the competition.
Returning contestant, Temidayo Martins, who auditioned for the fourth season arrived at the venue with more zeal and determination. “I was unable to impress the judges last year, so I could not proceed beyond the selection stage. I have taken all the corrections and I am ready to fight for a space in the Top 12 with everything I have”, she said.
Giving feedback about the auditions in Abuja, Head Youth Segment, Etisalat Nigeria, Elvis Daniel, noted that Abuja has always been a city to look forward to for its exceptional talents. The Abuja auditions featured performances by winners of Nigerian Idol Seasons 2, 3 and 4, Moses Obi-Adigwe, Mercy Chinwo and Evelyn “Evelle” Zibili. The next audition takes place in Ibadan at Kakanfo Inn and Conference Centre, Ring road on January 31st. The final auditions will hold in Lagos at Dream Studios, Ojodu Berger on February 8th and 9th.
