A federal high court sitting in Abuja has convicted 6 undergraduates for internet fraud and online scam.
The judge, Justice Nkeonye Maha convicted and sentenced the suspects to vary terms ranging from 3 to 6 months imprisonment, with an option of fines N300, 000.
All suspects pleaded guilty to the charges levelled against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Those sentenced include Nuhu Usman, Ademoyegu Samson, Quarshie Nnamdi, Emmanuel Ogbole, Charles Iwu, and Adunmo Sesan.
While the convicts were sentenced, the judge (Justice Nkeonye Maha) ordered them to forfeit some of the items recovered from them.
The recovered items include smartphones. Justice Maha also ordered them to sign an undertaking to be of good behaviour and never to be involved in any form of fraud in and outside the country. Failure to adhere to these undertaking will attract judicial sanctions.
