Former Plantashun boiz star, Blackface has made his own version of ‘African Queen’ after his former Plantashun Boiz mate, 2face failed to credit him when the song became a nationwide hit and brought him to the limelight.
Blackface claimed rights to 2face’s African Queen. The rift began over who owned the rights to ‘African Queen’ after it became a success.
According to Blackface, he was the one who gave 2face the right to sing the song but he was never credited as a writer by Kennis Music label, neither did he receive any acknowledgement from 2face while the song won a lot of awards since 2003/2014 till date.
However, 2face included the 3rd verse which he wrote when it was produced by OJB Jezreel but Blackface took out the verse and included his own verse to make this version totally written by himself.
Blackface took to his Instagram handle where he wrote;
Finally my #version of #africanqueen will soon be available on all platforms worldwide…just to clear the air again …I gave the initial singer the right to sing the song but I never got credited as a writer by the label that released it nor any acknowledgement from the singer while the song did so many numbers and won many awards since 2003/4 till date
The singer included a third verse he wrote to the music when it was produced by OJB but I took that verse out and included the third I had written to make this version of mine totally written by self ….I can’t wait for you all to feel this one #produced
