Former Mallorca, Barcelona, Chelsea and Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o has announced his retirement from football.
The Cameroonian forward first made his debut in 1997 and has scored more than 350 goals across his club career, winning the UEFA Champions League with FC Barcelona and once with Inter Milan.
Samiel Eto’o, who is four-time African Player of the Year revealed the news on his official Instagram handle, saying:
“The end. Towards a new challenge. Thank you all, big love.”
Eto’o joined Real Madrid from Kadji Sports Academy, a football academy in Cameroon. He was subsequently was loaned to Leganes, Espanyol and Mallorca before joining FC Barcelona in 2004.
In 2009, he switched to the Serie A to join Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan moved to Inter Milan before the twilight of his career saw spells at Anzhi Makhachkala, Chelsea, Everton, Sampdoria, Antalyaspor and Konyaspor and finally Qatar SC.

Internationally, Eto’o made a record by being the youngest player at the 1998 World Cup when he made the Cameroon football squad at the age of 17.
Eto’o also claimed gold at the 2000 Olympics and he won two Africa Cup of Nations titles with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in 2000 and 2002.
