A 46-year-old Nigerian businessman, Pius Ezekwem, who is based in South Africa has been killed by a group of 8 policemen who interrogated him at his home over the weekend – 36Naija reports.
The Late Pius Ezekwem runs a chain of bed and breakfast guest houses and was picked up by the South African Police Force at a Nigerian eatery. He was forcefully taken to his home for interrogations and search.
However, an argument erupted between the deceased and the South African police officers. The argument degenerated so fast that a gunshot was fired at Pius which led to his death.
The Late Pius Ezekwem was married to a South African lady who was present at the scene of the incident.
It was alleged that Pius asked the policemen to kill him in his house because he would not follow them to where they wanted to take him to. Sadly enough, the policemen allegedly murdered him in cold blood right in the presence of his family.
All phones were seized except the phone of Pius’ sister-in-law who recorded his altercation with the South African police officers.
The Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa, Godwin Adama, confirmed the incident and said that a formal report has been submitted to the South African police.
