An appeal by Atiku Abubakar and his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been dismissed by the Supreme Court
36naija.com reports that the appeal seeks to inspect the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), reportedly used on February 23.
This is coming after the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) dismissed the PDP and Atiku’s application on the matter June 24.
A five-man panel of justices led by Justice Datijo Mohammed in a ruling on Tuesday held that the appeal was a waste of time and without basis.
Justice Chima Nweze, who read the lead judgment of the apex court, said,
“I see no reason for departing from the reasoning of the lower court. I find that this appeal is without merit, and it is accordingly, dismissed.”
Other members of the panel – Justices Mohammed, Uwani Abba-Aji, Kumai Akaahs, and Paul Galumje agreed with the lead judgment.
