President Mohammed Buhari renamed Abuja stadium in honor of MKO Abiola

President Buhari has renamed the Abuja national stadium after late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola MKO.

The stadium was constructed to host the 8th All Africa Games that took place in October 2003.

The President hereby announced today in his speech for the Democracy Day celebration at Eagles square, Abuja, that he has officially renamed the stadium in honor of the late rightful president of 1993 election.

An unprecedented happening that would forever remain in the Nigeria history is the June 12th, 1993 where a presidential election was cancelled by former military leader Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, nullifying the presumed winner of the election which was Moshood Kashimawo Abiola.
