Justice Inyang Ekwo of Federal high court Abuja has given order to the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), to re-open the initially closed AIT and Ray Power FM.
NBC said AIT and Ray power have violated certain rules maintained by the broadcasting regulatory committee, and therefore the stations was herein suspended indefinitely on the 6th of June 2019.
The two broadcasting station solely owned by Raymond Dokpesi was shut down on Thursday by NBC.
DAAR communication filed a suit before the Federal high court earlier today in a bid to avoid sanctioning from NBC.
The case was filed through counsel Mike Ozekhome, and DAAR communication as now asked the court for order.
“restraining the defendants from blocking, jamming, stopping removing from air and/or interfering with the air waves of the plaintiff/applicant (Daar Plc) in any way and manner howsoever called from invading the premises of the plaintiff/applicant (Daar Plc) or closing down, viet armis, the said premises, its operations or broadcast services, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed along with this application.”
Justice Ekwo the presiding judge, delivered the judgement on the case today and finally ordered that the NBC and DAAR communication must now maintain status quo of May 31st 2019.
The Judge went ahead to adjourn the case till Thursday 13th of June, and he expects NBC to follow orders and re-open the closed communication companies and return their license.
